The temperature needs to improve in order for the replacement surfacing to set.

Until current conditions change, the spokesperson for the council said it would have to wait to remedy the situation.

However, work is planned in for early next week based on current weather forecasts.

The council spokesperson said: "It’s only a temporary closure due to the safer surfacing being damaged under quite a few items of equipment, which has meant that the team could not fence off just the worst areas.

"The damage has left trip hazards around the play area, so for obvious safety reasons we’ve closed the facility."
