Armley Park play area closed by Leeds Council as damage leaves trip hazards

Armley Park play area has been closed by Leeds Council after damage under equipment left "trip hazards".

Residents have complained on social media about the state of the park in recent weeks.

Now, the council has moved to close the park temporarily before replacement work to solve the hazardous areas.

The safer surfacing has become damaged under the equipment, a spokesperson for Leeds Council told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The temperature needs to improve in order for the replacement surfacing to set.

Until current conditions change, the spokesperson for the council said it would have to wait to remedy the situation.

However, work is planned in for early next week based on current weather forecasts.

The council spokesperson said: "It’s only a temporary closure due to the safer surfacing being damaged under quite a few items of equipment, which has meant that the team could not fence off just the worst areas.

"The damage has left trip hazards around the play area, so for obvious safety reasons we’ve closed the facility."
