13. Alan Bennett
Alan Bennett was born in Armley in May 1934 and attended Leeds Modern School (which is now Lawnswood School). The playright went on to get a first-class degree in history at the University of Oxford. 14. Chris Moyles
Radio DJ Chris Moyles was born in Leeds in 1974 and went to Mount St Mary's Catholic High School. He worked at Leeds independent radio station Aire FM, before moving to Bradford-based Pulse 1 before eventually joining Radio 1 in 1997. He now hosts The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X.
15. Marco Pierre White
Chef and restaurateur Marco Pierre White was born in Leeds in 1961 and left Allerton High School to train as a chef. He worked at the Box Tree in Ilkley before moving to London to begin classical training with Michael Roux. He went on to work on television shows such as Hell's Kitchen and Masterchef Australia.
16. Malcom McDowell
Actor Malcom McDowell was born in Horsforth before the family moved to Bridlington and then Liverpool. One of his most famous roles was in Stanley Kubrik's controversial A Clockwork Orange in 1971. 17. Mike Tindall
Mike Tindall was born in Otley and educated at the private Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield before beginning his rugby union career. He was part of the England squad that won the 2003 Rugby World Cup. He is now married to Zara Phillips, the oldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and they have two children.
18. Gemma Whelan
