"Whilst the UK’s COVID cases continue to fall and more and more people are being vaccinated in the UK, like many events we need to proceed with caution over the coming months and so the decision to postpone both events to September has been taken to give you every chance of standing on the start line this year."

The message continues: "We hope by postponing to September, this will also allow you additional time to train across the summer and enjoy training again with friends, running clubs and family as lockdown eases over the coming month.

"We hope you can understand our reasoning for the postponement and we look forward to seeing you all on the start line later this year because like you we have missed that event day feeling."

All Leeds Half marathon and Leeds 10K entries will automatically be transferred to the new event date in September.

E-mails will be sent to entrants two months prior to the event to confirm the event will be going ahead as planned.
