Pedestrian critically ill after Leeds rush-hour accident

A PEDESTRIAN is critically ill in hospital today following a rush hour incident that saw traffic in parts of Leeds grind to a halt.

The incident happened on the A6110 ring road near Farnley last night. (Oct 3)

At around 5pm, close to the junction between the A6110 and Tong Road, the 30-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a blue Peugeot 107.

It is believed the man had stepped into the carriageway.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said today: “Following treatment at the scene the pedestrian, who is from Leeds, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he is described as being in a critical but stable condition this morning.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact PC Howard Slater at the Eastern Area Roads Policing Unit based at Killingbeck Police Station on 101.

The incident caused major traffic delays in the area last night.
