Not usually two ingredients you would mix together for a night out but it is such a thing and the trend, which has washed over other UK cities, is heading to Leeds.

PopUp Painting is teaming up with Brasserie Blanc for its first Leeds event.

The idea behind it is that you have a glass of wine in one hand, paintbrush in the other and let the creative juices (or the alcohol)flow.

Marketing director and co-founder of PopUp Painting, Gareth Shelton said: “We are really excited about our expansion into Leeds. People are tired of the same-old on their nights out. That’s where we come in. It’s especially pleasing to be launching in Leeds with Brasserie Blanc, who were one of our first partners in London as well.

“Most of our guests haven’t picked up a paintbrush since school  –  if ever  –  and it’s been really rewarding to see people leave an event saying, ‘wow, I didn’t know I could do that’. We’re really looking forward to seeing how the people of Leeds enjoy our events.”

Sessions are led by artists with materials included and, for the last five years since the first one, have proved popular for hen nights, work team building exercises or date nights with a difference.

The first Leeds one is based around Monet’s Waterlilies painting and is on August 23.

Budding artists can have a go at creating their own version but a creative curveball will be welcomed.

A second date has already been listed that will be on September 20.

Also at Brasserie Blanc it will look at the Vincent Van Gough painting, Starry Night.
