Over 6,000 Leeds homes left without power

Over 6,000 homes in Leeds were left without electricity after a power cut on Monday night.

The outage from 10:41pm affected 6,700 properties in areas such as Burley, Kirkstall, Hawksworth, Bramley, Rodley, Swinnow, Adel, Bramhope, Cookridge, Eccup, Far Headingley, Holt Park, Ireland Wood, Lawnswood, Moor Grange, Tinshill, Weetwood and West Park.

Northern Powergrid's engineers attended and discovered a broken cable which required urgent repairs. There is not believed to have been any criminal damage.

The last customer's power was restored shortly after midnight.
