Why this will be a Christmas to remember for Akash and family - the YEP says

Akash Suryavansi and his family will finally be reunited for Christmas after spending 10 months apart to protect him after he had two kidneys donated to him by his parents.

To date, Akash has had around 60 operations so when the pandemic started to sweep Britain in March this year, the family decided it would be safer for Akash to live apart from mum Tina, who gave her son one of her kidneys back in 2004, as she was working on the frontline in the A&E departments at Leeds General Infirmary and St James’s Hospital.

It is a parent’s natural instinct to protect their families.

But Tina and husband Aky truly are guardian angels – not only have their donated their kidneys, they also made the emotional decision to wrench the family apart in order to become human shields and continue to protect their son’s life.

Theirs will be a reunion to cherish as they look forward to Christmas and a brighter future together.
