It has been a year like no other and not a single person has been left unaffected as we try to find a new “normal”.

We’ve been parted from our families and colleagues and it has given us the chance to take stock of what matters most.

For many the routine of travelling to work in the city centre seems like a thing of the past – and in turn, this is having a profound impact on local businesses.

Today we publish our results of our Big Conversation survey, where we asked our readers to tell us how their lives have been changed by the virus.

A total of 40 per cent of respondents said that they were visiting the city centre a lot less and 31 per cent hadn’t visited at all since lockdown. Meanwhile, 71 per cent said they didn’t feel confident using public transport.

Over the coming weeks, we’re going to shine a spotlight on these big issues that matter to you.
