Why city's businesses need our support now more than ever - YEP Comment
It was the moment that so many embattled businesses in our city’s hospitality sector longed for.
For months their chairs remained stacked on tables after being told they had to stay closed to diners for months on end.
And finally now their doors are open once again as part of the latest easing of restrictions.
But despite being able to welcome back customers, they are now appealing for support as they continue to feel the impact of the pandemic.
Jo Myers, who runs The Swine that Dines, said this has been the hardest time for the business over the last decade.
And despite being able to allow diners back into their restaurant she warned that business is still very fragile.
For so many, the war against Covid is far from over as they work on recouping lost earnings.
And as we continue to carefully ease our way out of lockdown our local businesses, which are the fabric of our city, need all the support they can get to help ensure they continue to survive and thrive.
