The impact of coronavirus has been simply catastrophic on the families who were already struggling to make ends meet before the world was turned on its axis.

For many parents, who are working extremely hard for low pay, they are faced with the daunting prospect of reaching out for support.

And for some, even making that first step to ask for help can feel worse than going without.

But this is the stark reality we face in 21st century Leeds.

It’s worrying to think that some of our hardest-hit families are struggling to support youngsters who are among the most vulnerable in Leeds.

And that it why trusted grassroots organisations are on hand to make sure they are meeting the extreme challenges these families face, head on.

The Healthy Holidays Fund co-ordinated by Leeds Community Foundation is absolutely vital.

It is more than supporting children through holidays. This is a lifeline.

And they have pledged to be in it for the long haul to support those who need them the most.
