NHS vaccination programme chiefs praised the willingness of people of all age groups in Leeds to have the jab, adding a further nine out of 10 people in their 40s have also had their first injection.

In total, 445,446 people in Leeds have had their first dose of the vaccine, while 307,347 have had their second.

And it is a huge testament to the willingness of our city to protect itself against the threat of Covid-19 in order to keep themselves and their loved ones safe.

So while it’s a step in the right direction there is still more work to do as the vaccine programme continues to roll down the age groups.

And health chiefs are today reminding people to get their appointment booked for their vaccine as our city continues to make fragile steps towards its recovery.
