Victoria Eaton, the city’s Director of Public Health, has stated that just five per cent of Leeds has been vaccinated in just over a month (population of 720,000, the UK’s third largest city; source 2011 Census).

Ms Eaton is quoted in the Yorkshire Evening Post on Monday stating Leeds is a “really good news story...Progressing well compared to other parts of the country.”

Taking Ms Eaton’s figure of five per cent per month at face value, it will take another 20 months at that rate!

Bear in mind that the Government is claiming to be administrating 200,000 vaccines per day.

Ms Eaton also caveats her statement of hitting the target of vaccinating the first four priority groups by mid-February by adding “As long as the vaccines come in.”

There lies the issue, I would suggest. The supply and distribution of the vaccine.

If Ms Eaton’s statements are to be taken as correct, she must be aware of the figures for the vaccines administered and in what locations around the UK.

Therefore, why not share them with the public? Surely, it is in the public’s interest?

I for one would like to know the facts, so I can make my own mind up.
