this application to turn the Drysalters pub into a coffee outlet should be refused (Yorkshire Evening Post, December 7.)

I’ve used the pub on numerous occasions for match day parking and attended dozens of wakes after funerals at Cottingley.

Though I live in Tingley I’ve supported Leeds since the sixties and I’m sure that next year will see a surge of custom for the pub as the proposed vaccination programme against Covid allows fans and locals to frequent the popular hostellry in large numbers.

The number of pubs is dwindling rapidly as it is so we should all do what we can to keep the ones providing such a handy watering hole to the Elland Road ground open and available.

The surge in opening new coffee outlets should be limited to shopping and retail centres!
