The Leeds Rhinos legend made the pledge after taking on a gruelling seven marathons in seven days in winter, which it has now been confirmed has raised £2.2m for the charity. He took up the baton one year after his former teammate, and friend, Rob Burrow was diagnosed with the terminal illness.

Rob’s battle over the last 12 months has inspired rugby fans, the people of Leeds and well-wishers across the country to pull together in the fight against MND.

“We love Rob to bits and we’d do anything for him,” Sir Kev said.

Sinfield, and the scores of people who have donated, deserve our utmost gratitude and thanks.

So too does Rob himself, whose dedication to raising awareness and energising research into the illness has been a sight to behold.

We can’t wait to throw support behind whatever fundraiser Sir Kev whips up next.
