Fans, the club and the local community are at the heart of all we do - Leeds United Supporters Trust

You didn’t think it would be easy, did you?

The 2-0 defeat to Neil Harris was obviously disappointing. The 3-0 win over Fulham (despite the Mitrovic elbow) was a massive lift but to then only draw 1-1, under the blinding floodlights, against Luton Town was a missed opportunity.

This is the Leeds way! But we mustn’t forget that we’re still in top spot and now with just six games to go.

It’s really pleasing to see that there haven’t been any gatherings of fans at Elland Road at either of our home fixtures so far. It looks like our online campaign is being listened to.

Follow us on social media and have a look at a few more famous faces you may recognise in the videos that we have been regularly releasing in the lead-up to each match.

Remember the hashtags - #StayAway #RespectOurNorman #ProtectPromotion

Gjanni Alioski, our little bundle of fun, paid his own personal tribute to the fans who couldn’t be there in person by applauding all of the nearly 16,000 crowdies.

He knows how important the fans are to the club and so do we. The fans, the club and the local community are at the heart of everything we do.

In future columns for the YEP, we will give you an in-depth look at each area of the trust’s work that supports our key objectives.

We agreed on our objectives at our ‘virtual’ board meeting last Saturday via zoom, which was also attended by our two presidents, Simon Rix, of the Kaiser Chiefs, and Ben Shires, the TV and radio presenter.

Our aim is to unite fans’ voices by seeking and listening to our members’ views and discussing these in regular one-to-one meetings with senior executives at the club, and as part of the Supporters’ Advisory Group with other key fan groups.

We never forget that you expect the current custodians of our great club to be held to account.

Giving back to the local community is also vital.

We already support a number of projects such as the Leeds Fans Foodbank. And this year we’re proud to be supporting Andy’s Man Club as our charity of the year, an initiative which celebrates its four-year anniversary this week.

The aim of Andy’s Man Club is to get people talking about mental health issues and halve the suicide rate amongst men in the UK, which is currently the largest cause of death of men aged under 45.

We have always been an active campaigning organisation and fight for what’s right for fans.

We will continue to push for fair ticket pricing for home and away fans, and campaign for the introduction or trial of a safe standing area at Elland Road.

Adding your own voice to all of this important work is easy. Simply visit our website at www.leedsunitedtrust.com and become a member for just £10 per year.

As a member, you can also enrol your child for free as a Future Trust member!

Marching on together.
