Delight as visitors return to Leeds high street - YEP Comment
The sun was shining and, despite the chill in the air, people were not deterred from venturing back to the high street.
Yesterday non-essential retailers and parts of the hospitality sector opened their doors for the first time this year.
The Christmas window displays that had collected dust over the months were pushed to one side as retailers heralded the return to the high street.
And customers were equally delighted to be back as they made the most of their new-found freedoms.
There was an air of positivity as people followed the safety precautions, the centre director of Trinity Leeds told the YEP.
It is important to remember that this has been a very difficult time for businesses while they were faced with months of closure.
But it’s also been a tough time for those who rely on those businesses too.
We’re all pleased to see the return of something that resembles “normal” but it’s important we don’t blow it - there’s still a long way left to go.
