Deja vu of Woodhouse Moor clean-up is frustrating - YEP Comment

It’s a sense of deja vu - the city is once again faced with cleaning up Woodhouse Moor.

Yesterday a clean-up operation was underway after people gathered in the park.

And now there are calls for more permanent solutions to stop people littering and urinating the park.

One resident branded the aftermath a “health hazard”.We know that access to safe and clean green space is more important than ever - especially for those who don’t have the sanctuary of a back garden.

Our parks and green spaces have been a blessing during the pandemic and have helped to give us all a lift.

But there is a social responsibility to ensure that we look after those green spaces that have looked after us during this time of turmoil.

Cleaning teams have been diverted from other parts of the city to clear up once again.

Not only is it frustrating for them, and the people who live nearby, it is a waste of time - people need to clear up their own mess.
