Congestion is holding Leeds back and the Chancellor must use the Budget to help Unlock the Gridlock - the YEP says

The Yorkshire Evening Post knows all too well the daily battle that many commuters face as they battle their way from one side of Leeds to another.

This recent study from the Centre for Cities shows that poor public transport provision is holding back economic growth.

And it reveals that commuting speeds into city centre stand out from the time it simply takes.

The knock on impact is profound when it comes to languishing in queues of traffic.

Our country’s national economy is missing out because cities like Leeds are falling behind in the slow lane.

It comes as this newspaper launched our Unlock the Gridlock campaign to improve the city’s transport links.

So we hope fellow Yorkshireman Rishi Sunak takes heed of this - we can’t leave our city in the slow lane any longer.
