Main story. A new £4.5m nightclub is to house a mini police station in a bid to curb late-night violence in Wakefield. The Oceana club has been hailed as a trailblazing project with several innovative features to crack down on booze related incidents. Councillors gave the go-ahead for Luminar Leisure’s 2,000 capacity superclub in Unity House, despite support from rivals worried about loss of trade. Features include a police base and medical rooms, blanket TV inside and out, an indoor queuing area to reduce on-street violence and indoor taxi waiting area to be operated by taxi marshals.
