No dry January for busy Leeds PR man Jordan
“I’ve had to take up Pilates in a bid to keep the belly at bay. I’ve basically become a one man culinary Phileas Fogg and scoffed my way through every conceivable cuisine in the world without leaving Leeds or blowing the January budget.”

Hide AdI started off with good intentions with a health packed lunch at Japanese restaurant Issho and was positively smug having snagged three dishes for £15 and feeling confident I’d hit my five-a-day. Then there was that sticky beef tostada at Cielo Blanco, but what right minded individual could turn down a half price crispy corn tortilla topped with overnight marinated smoky ox cheek, burnt onion puree and crispy shallots?
I then headed to Italy via New York by dining at Marco Pierre White; the guy knows how to cook Italian influenced dishes in American sized portions. The New Orleans crab cakes were out of this world.
The consequences of all this have been that my fav pair of skinny jeans seem to have shrunk in the wash are a bit tight; on a completely unrelated note I’ve taken up Pilates at Chapel Allerton Pilates studio because I have to be Speedo body ready for my jaunt to Phuket at the end of the month. It was really enjoyable and I definitely felt the burn, my abs were on fire the next day.

Hide AdWork is crazy at the moment, we are in the process of expanding the business and bowing to demand to offer a full 360 degree marketing service, I can’t say too much now but suffice to say it’s a really hectic time. Growing the team has resulted in the return of a blast from the past but I’ll tell you more about that next time.
Everyone around me is dying of the flu, and with my holiday on the horizon and my slightly over indulgent start to 2018 (no Dry January for me) I thought I’d follow in the footsteps of the likes of Kim K, Rhianna and Cara Delevingne and get an IV vitamin drip. Leeds based company Invigorate IV swung by the office, leaving me feeling genuinely refreshed and energised afterwards. Definitely recommend it if you’re feeling a bit sluggish or the January detox hasn’t gone quite to plan.
Another first this month was my first ever Leeds United match with the lads; the atmosphere at Elland Road was amazing and I had a fully immersive experience by sampling a pie and pint at half time and learning all the words to ‘marching on together’. I must confess I’m not sure what a flat back four is and I still don’t understand the offside rule but I did spy the manager was wearing an amazing Burberry coat (we all have our wheelhouse). I wonder if he got that coat gifted now that Burberry have a base in Leeds housing their finance, HR, procurement, IT and customer service functions.

Hide AdI’m starting my vacay early by heading to the launch of East 59th’s new bottomless supper club tonight before heading to see soul legend Jazzy B DJing at Angelica. The only other thing in my diary this weekend is Victoria Gate Casino’s first birthday party. The super casino caused a storm when it opened last year, offering a luxury Vegas style experience in the heart of Leeds and their birthday bash promises to be just as spectacular.
