A new start in more ways than one for couple at Lavender Fold

A Barnsley couple are celebrating after becoming parents and moving into their brand new family home in the space of a few weeks.

Rachel Sakels and husband Daniel made their move to a stylish four-bedroom ‘Nidderdale’ home, at Harron Homes’ exclusive Lavender Fold development in Mapplewell.

The couple, both 26, have since welcomed baby Oliver into the world.

Rachel said: “It’s been a very exciting couple of months for us and although it’s been a mad rush at times, we got there.

“The timeframe fitted together nicely for us – we were able to get in, make the house our home and get Oliver’s new room ready for him in plenty of time before he arrived.”

They had been searching for a home in the Barnsley area that would give them extra space to raise a family whilst staying close to their parents, and set their hearts on Lavender Fold after visiting the Nidderdale style show home.

Rachel, who works as a schoolteacher, explained: “The location is perfect for us and as soon as we knew there were homes being built here, we were interested.

“The school where I work is only a 10 minute drive away and the transport links are fantastic, with the M1 close by. My husband is a self-employed electrician and often travels around Yorkshire for work, so it works perfectly for him as well.

“After we saw the show home, we knew this was the house for us and we reserved a Nidderdale off-plan whilst it was still being built, which made it more affordable.

“In the meantime we were able to go and measure up the show home which was really helpful for us, because it allowed us to work out what we’d put where, and plan how we wanted Oliver’s room to look before we moved in.”

Lavender Fold is tucked away in a quiet corner of Mapplewell, around five miles north of Barnsley.
