The feature will be known as Nick’s View, which is made up of a seating area with views across the park dedicated to the former chairman of the Friends of Middleton Park, Nick Rose.

Local Labour councillor Paul Truswell said: “Nick’s View is an excellent addition to Middleton Park, and a perfect way to remember Nick and
his huge passion for the
park.”

Pupils from local school St Mary’s Primary in Middleton have been involved in the project, with support from all three local ward councillors.

Alan Shaw, chair of the Friends of Middleton Park said: “We wanted somewhere where people could sit and remember Nick, in a place which he thought was important, but which might also be a place for people to enjoy the Park and the views.”
