A driver was rescued from the water after their car became submerged in a West Yorkshire canal.

Fire crews were called out to deal with the incident at 12.39pm today (June 8) after the car entered the canal at Lock Lane at Altofts, Normanton.

The vehicle was submerged and remains in the water until recovery can be arranged.

Fire crews from Wakefield, Normanton, Rothwell and Leeds attended.
