Motorcyclist dies after suffering serious injuries in crash

A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a car in South Yorkshire yesterday.

The 65-year-old man was riding on a yellow Honda motorbike when the machine collided with a silver Vauxhall Zafira car on Worrygoose Lane at Whiston near Rotherham.

It happened near to the junction with Greystones Road at around 12.50pm.

The rider was taken to Northern General Hospital with life threatening injuries and died a short time later, a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson confirmed.

Officers are now investigating the collision and specialist officers are providing support to his family.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the collision, or saw either of the vehicles prior to collision, to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 553 of the 18th February 2017.
