More than 100 firefighters tackled the scrap tyre blaze on Upper Castle Street.Residents across Bradford were urged to keep their windows and doors closed due to the scale of the smoke. Road closures are in place and trains have been cancelled on lines between Bradford Interchange, Halifax and Leeds.

Network Rail said disruption is expected until the end of the day. A spokesman said: "Due to the size of the fire and the materials involved the fire brigade advise they are unable to extinguish it in the short term and the focus is on containment.
