Wakefield Council chiefs said several items were stolen and the building was vandalised.

A second mobile library will be set outside the main library building on Sparable Lane on Friday January 23.

Coun Les Shaw, Wakefield Council’s cabinet member for culture sport and leisure, said: “The damage caused by the thieves means that this vehicle will be out of action for some time.

“We have tried our best to make alternative provision and hope customers will bear with us until the library refurbishment it completed.”
