Rottweiler cross Boris was found at the roadside in Holbeck on a busy Saturday night and collected by a dog warden.
He has since been staying at Dogs Trust Leeds's adoption centre near Barwick-in-Elmet.
Centre manager Amanda Sands said:
“It’s tragic to think that when a dog as young as him should be at the heart of a loving home, being introduced to the big wide world slowly and with love, he instead finds himself in danger of being run over, in the dark, scared and alone and surrounded by people he doesn’t know. It’s so unnecessary to put a dog at such risk.
“Thankfully the dog warden was able to collect him and bring him to us where he is now recovering and starting to regain his confidence and show his mischievous personality. Hopefully when he is in his forever home he will fully recover from everything he has been through and go on to have a wonderful life full of love.”
