Meanwood incident: Two women taken to hospital with injuries following four-car crash in Leeds

Two women have been taken to hospital with injuries after a crash involving four cars in Meanwood today (Monday).

Police and the fire and ambulance services were called to reports of the crash at the junction of Stainbeck Road and Stainbeck Avenue at around 3.55pm this afternoon.

Two women were taken to hospital after being injured in the four-car collision.

The road had to be closed and buses were diverted away from the scene.

First Bus West Yorkshire tweeted at around 4.20pm: "91 To Pudsey Bus Station buses are diverting Stainbeck Avenue & Meanwood Road To Halton Moor buses are diverting Meanwood Road, Stonegate Road & Stainbeck Lane."

It has not yet been confirmed as to whether the bus diversions have ended.

The Google traffic map is no longer showing delays in the area.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Emergency services were called to the junction of Stainbeck Road and Stainbeck Avenue in Leeds at about 3.54pm this afternoon to a report of a collision involving four cars.

"The road was closed and buses diverted as a result of the collision.

"Two women were taken to hospital for assessment after being injured in the incident."
