Mastering art of hair and healing in Leeds

Masters of Craft is a new hair and holistic treatment salon designed to give frazzled customers a genuine retreat from hectic city life, in opulent yet sustainable surroundings.

Heather Baker and Chloe Wilson, who met each other when they both worked as apprentices at Toni & Guy in 2000, have created a salon where all the furniture is upcycled and adorned by green plants, a living moss table forms a stunning salon centrepiece and the team only use specially selected products by Davines, a luxury, cruelty-free and vegan hair brand.

There is a specific area where customers can have a complete hideaway from the outside world for a little while but, equally if you just can’t leave it alone, WiFi and plug in points where you can work while you get your hair done.

The due have more than 40 years hairdressing experience between them and have taken on a team of six to open the salon in a period building on Blenheim Terrace, in the University Quarter of the city.

In addition to a cut, colour and blow dry (complete with a styling lesson so you can re-create the look at home) you can also treat yourself to a therapeutic sports massage, ancient cupping therapy, body mapping and reflexology treatment.

Heather Baker, said: “Chloe and I have talked about opening our own place for years and decided that now was the time to realise our vision of creating a sustainable and relaxing urban hideaway.

“We want people to be able to escape the stresses of everyday life and truly relax whilst having their hair done with us.”
