Man confirmed dead after being hit by train near Kirkstall Bridge

A man has died after being hit by a train near Kirkstall Bridge.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the line in Kirkstall at 4.53pm yesterday (Monday) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were also called, but sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A BTP spokesman said: "This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Trains were disrupted on the network while emergency services dealt with the incident.
