Lorry overturns after smashing into bridge in Wakefield

A heavy goods vehicle has rolled after crashing into a bridge in West Yorkshire today.

The driver of the lorry miraculously escaped uninjured after the vehicle struck the underside of a bridge in Doncaster Road, Wakefield, and overturned at around 5.15pm.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police rushed to the scene, where the lorry’s load had spilled across the road.

Diversions were put in place and the road was closed before a recovery vehicle arrived on scene this evening.
