Leeds photo essay: The folk star in tune with magic of the guitar

Some of the UK’s most acclaimed folk stars have stepped through the doors of his store in Addingham, near Ilkley.

Over the last 25 years Peter Barton has built up a reputation for being a musical maestro when it comes to fretted instruments.

His small business has crafted and repaired guitars, ukuleles and mandolins for musicians all over the city.

Peter said: “I love making something that then goes on to be a musical instrument.

“However, the real joy of making and fixing guitars is seeing someone play it, either on stage or even as a hobby. I’ve always enjoyed playing the guitar but I also enjoyed making them, so combining the two is the perfect job for me.”
