Leeds photo essay: Creative creations help bring stories to life

Creative Richard Underwood, who lives in Pudsey, until now had never showcased his homemade creations.

His intricate models, which take pride of place at The Rainbow Factory,include characters from favourites like Jack and the Beanstalk and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

The Farsley storytelling wonderland is the brainchild of Leeds sisters Hazel Merlino and Sarah Underwood.

They wanted an alternative to soft play centres, museums and costly attractions to entertain Sarah’s two daughters.

The self-confessed “bookworms” came up with a project they hoped would entertain and nurture a love of reading.
