Leeds nostalgia: Making way for the new

So many of the old streets are distant memories.

New views of the city centre were created with the demolition in 1968 of the Cookridge Street Baths and in the same year Priestley Hall situated on Park Row fell to the blows of the wrecking ball.

Over in Normanton in 1973 the demands of the new M62 put paid to these houses on Castleford Road.

In 1981 this terrace at Hoxton Grove was pulled down as resident Peter Judge looked on.

More recently, in 1992 seventy houses on the Roker estate at Pudsey were reduced to matchwood.
