Leeds nostalgia: The great egg race

Nearly twenty nine years ago on 15th April 1987 the Yorkshire Evening Post staged an event called The Great Egg Race in the centre of Leeds.

Teams from six local companies took part. Marks & Spencer, British Home Stores, Yorkshire Post Sight & Sound, Poundstretcher, Schofields and the Co-op.

The winners were the team from Marks & Spencer who received their trophy from the YEP’s Peter McPartland.

Youngsters Kim Taylor and Thomas McNaughton were pictured with Jane Chapman and Amanda Sharp from the Co-op while the other teams made great contributions to a fun day.
