Bernard Davey, otherwise known as Belfast Brian, had been homeless during the last few years of his life while suffering from health problems.

Back in 1982, he had a role in the ITV drama Harry's Game, which told the story of a British politician assassinated by an IRA gunman. Although set in Belfast, it was filmed in Leeds on a housing estate in Burley which has since been demolished.

Bernard was involved with the Irish Health and Homes organisation in Leeds. His funeral will take place today at Cottingley Crematorium, followed by a wake at the Railway Club in Armley. Mourners have been asked to bring along their instruments to play in his memory.

Back in 2016, footage of Bernard went viral after busker Jonny Walker posted a video online of the pair singing in Leeds city centre on New Year's Eve. Bernard, who by then was confined to a wheelchair, joined Jonny to sing a version of Summertime.
