The original Beacons Festival was held at a field in Skipton for several years before it was brought into Leeds city centre in 2015. Now it is set to down-size once more as it spans just one week, rather than the 12-week format it took last year.

Due to be held in late October, the line-up will include performers from the worlds of pop, experimental, psych, grime, techno and more.

LA-based five-piece Local Natives will perform at Leeds University Stylus while south London MC and producer Roots Manuva will be at Belgrave Music Hall.

Leeds’s own Hookworms will also co-curate a special night at Holy Trinity Church.

Head booker, Ben Lewis, said: “The Beacons Metro series gives us the chance to bring together our some of our favourite and the most exciting musicians around.”

It’s a shame to see what was once a sprawling festival in the suburbs change so significantly over the years but we hope the city will be out in force to show its support and soak up the sounds of the great musicians on the bill.
