Leeds MP pays visit to homeless charity

Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough MP Stuart Andrew has visited Emmaus Leeds to learn more about the work of the charity and find out about homelessness in the city.

Emmaus Leeds supports 26 formerly homeless people by offering a home, meaningful work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to get back on their feet again.

Mr Andrew said: “I was pleased to be able to see the excellent work they are doing.

“No-one should be living on the street, so I am glad to see places like Emmaus working hard to offer a community that provides both shelter and work opportunities.”

Emmaus Leeds is based on St Mary’s Street, and runs shops at Kirkgate Market, selling furniture, clothes and books.
