The blaze took place in an attic bedroom in Talbot View in Burley.
A crew from Leeds Fire Station was called shortly after 4.05pm.
They extinguished the fireand found that there was no working smoke detection device in the house.
Nobody was injured, a spokesman for the station said.
The crew used breathing equipment, one hose reel and positive pressure ventilation fans during the call-out.
