Leeds diner pops the question with a hand from TV chef

A man proposed to his girlfriend over a romantic meal - with a little help from TV chef, Gino D'Acampo.

Adam Ruston treated Hannah Roberts to a meal at the Italian’s restaurant chain which only opened in Leeds last week.

It just so happened that Gino was visiting the restaurant on Park Row on Tuesday night and was on hand to present her with the ring as Adam popped the question.

She said yes and the corks were popping as Gino also presented the happy couple, who have been together for eight years, with a bottle of bubbly.

Mr Ruston said: “Hannah was already excited to find out that Gino was at the restaurant, so me proposing really did surprise her.

“It was quite a surprise when Gino brought our prosecco and ring to the table. It was great he sat down with us afterwards to enjoy a celebratory drink.

“He’s a lovely guy, and just like he is on TV. I’m sure Hannah and I will remember it for a long time.”

Gino added: “As if opening My Restaurant in Leeds wasn’t exciting enough – in our first week Adam got down on one knee and asked Hannah to marry him.

“What a fantastic experience to be a part of and a magnificent way to start off in beautiful Leeds – congratulazione.”
