Leeds community project nets award

A church project that supports young families and vulnerable adults has picked up a Community Project Award for its vital work in Beeston.

The Charity Shop, at Beeston Hill United Free Church, also received £1,750, which will allow it to expand and offer more products, including furniture, for sale.

The initiative is opened up by volunteers every Friday and offers second hand goods and tea and toast, along with support and friendship for those who need it. All proceeds go back into the scheme and the community. Volunteers also provide clothes and household items to help asylum seekers and refugees get back on their feet and signpost vulnerable people to local agencies for further help.
