Leeds Community Foundation supports Lighthouse Futures Trust

I met Kerry from Yorkshire Water. That’s when I decided to do the internship. That was more than a year ago now. My first job was making ID cards for everyone. It was nice to meet new people.

Since then I’ve helped out with creating booklets for the new interns. And I’ve been involved with promoting events such as Black History Month and Autism Awareness. I put posters and information up around Yorkshire Water so people could read the information. I also helped out with flowers for bees; we had lots of flowers which the bees really liked!

It’s not easy for me sometimes (having autism). I get help, especially when I don’t quite understand. But working here has helped me build up my confidence and try different things that I haven’t done before.

Lighthouse Futures Trust helps equip young people on the autistic spectrum with the skills, qualifications and confidence to progress into employment. The foundation supported the school through its Employability Partnership, enabling them to develop job opportunities for 18 students with companies such as Yorkshire Water.
