Leeds City Council are recruiting 12 new apprentices across a range of sectors.

They're looking for full-time trainees keen to learn trades including electrics, gas engineering, painting and decorating, joinery, bricklaying and plastering.

Jayne Dowle: Where are the apprentices to build our future?Apprentices work a 37-hour week and are paid £16,863 per year. They also attend college on day release to gain a Level 3 qualification in their chosen trade.

Largest ever apprentice intake for Sheffield ForgemastersThere are 12 vacancies and you must complete and submit your application by December 30.

- Open and honest

- Someone who enjoys working as part of a team

- Reliable, hardworking, enthusiastic and committed

- Interested in a career in construction

There is a six-month probationary period.
