Leeds catering students are growing places

Catering students at Leeds City College have been shown that the best things really do some in small packages.

The team at the Food Academy were visited by Franck Pontais, innovation and development chef for micro cress company Koppert Cress.

The company produces micro-vegetables and specialist ingredients for the international gastronomy industry.

The students were shown a special tasting garden in a bid to help develop their palates

Hospitality and catering lecturer Scott Masey said: “We encourage all our students to develop their palates, discover more about the potential of flavour, and learn about combinations of flavour.

“Knowledge of ingredients is a key component of this, and experience like this offers them not only a chance to learn first-hand.”
