“I would like to thank all of our Parks and Countryside staff and countless volunteers for their hard work, all of whom we owe this amazing success to.”

The Green Flag award coincides with Love Parks Week, which runs from July 13 to July 22 and offers a packed programme of things to do from investigating archaeological sites, traditional crafts, wildlife spotting or guided walks with council gardeners to find out more about plants, flowers and displays.

It also comes as a Leeds University study revealed local residents are already showing their love for Leeds parks, with 91 per cent of the city’s population making at least one trip to a park each year, and over half visiting at least once a week. The survey also found 90 per cent of people being either satisfied or very satisfied with the main park they visited.
