LATEST: M62 to remain closed for evening’s rush hour
Drivers are being advised that the eastbound carriageway of the M62 will remain closed for this evening’s rush hour following a lorry fire.
The road has been closed between junction 29 (Lofthouse Interchange) and junction 30 (Rothwell) since 6.40am today (Wednesday) as a result of the fire, which caused significant damage to the carriageway.
Contractors for Highways England are working as quickly as possible to get the road reopened this evening.
But in the meantime drivers are being advised to follow the solid black square diversion route along the M1 and A639 or to avoid the area.
