Highways England had advised motorists to expect 15 minute delays following the lane closures between junction 42 at Lofthouse and junction 40 at Flushdyke.
West Yorkshire Police said the lanes were closed after a car and a lorry collided just before 12pm.
No-one was injured in the incident. Both lanes were re-opened at 1.30pm.
