Landmarks unveiled in memory of south Leeds' First World War fallen

Benches adorned with images of soldiers and red poppies have been unveiled in south Leeds in memory of the sacrifices made during the First World War.

Coun Kim Groves (Lab, Middleton Park) said: “Over the years, many of our residents have served their country and we will never forget the sacrifice they made. These benches are a lovely way to remember them.”

Coun Paul Truswell (Lab, Middleton Park) said the new features will prove “a visible reminder to present and future generations of the debt that we continue to owe them”.

And Coun Judith Blake (Lab, Middleton Park) added that the benches show the community’s appreciation of all those who served during the First World War.
