Now early investigations have revealed that blank ammunition - cartridges that do not contain projectiles - could have been used.

A police cordon is in place at the scene while forensic tests are carried out.

The spokeswoman added: "Forensic examination remains ongoing today and a cordon remains in place but early investigation indicate that blank firing ammunition was used with no evidence of an actual firearms discharge. "
